Right to Ignorance

Written by: Alex Merricks

ignorance Right to IgnoranceWith the battles and wars that take place all across the world in jungles, deserts, metropolitan cities, and governments about our human rights, you would find the most obvious human right and the one generally accepted is the Right to Ignorance. This is the one that should be abolished and done with great ferocity, and in doing so, we could bring about the idyllic world that had been envisioned by the great poets of the past.

You are told that you cannot murder someone because you would be taking the life of another man or woman and that would be unethical. It is said that you must not use drugs because they are poisonous to your body and that it can cause irreparable damage over the long term of your life. You even hear things like do not commit adultery: one, it breaks up families, and two, it has lead to the most disastrous disputes that women and men have come to know. For instance, look at the OJ Simpson case.

Regardless, my point is that with all of these laws and moral codes in place along with penalties to create some form of “fear” and “ethics presence” to prevent men from doing wrong, the most obvious and acceptable fact that human beings must confront is that we are quite fine as a whole with being ignorant and this is not okay.

How long does it take a man to realize something? Well, without repetition and retroactivity in practice, it will take a long time, and that would be assuming that the person ran into a particular situation or scenario nearly 15 times. We don’t wonder how kids learn to walk so quickly. That’s because they fell nearly 400 times before they finally got it. We aren’t even fascinated with how quickly they learn to use language, but that is because they stumbled over commonly used words they heard about 10,000 times before they finally got it right. But it is strange to me that as soon as our formal education in school ends, most people assume that all education ends, and to be quite honest with you, the way curriculums are put together in our schools today, it is quite a miracle that we have not fallen to such great depths as our ancestors did in civilizations of the past.

How many crimes are being committed by learned students? I personally don’t know, but it would be a good statistic to check. How many crimes are being committed by non-students? Hmmm… I bet that number will be higher than the learned students. And I am not just referring to being a student in the academic world, there are many forums to study in. One can study the religions of the world, one can spend time reading about the great philosophers who once walked the planet and our modern day marvels who have made technological breakthroughs, or you can even study technical subjects like mathematics or physics, and discover how matter comes into existence or how the use of an abstract science such as mathematics itself, can be applied to everyday life. If you like cars, you study engines and mechanics or if you play sports you study your opponents and how to overcome the challenges they bring.

But of all things, why is it that we accept ignorance so easily. For example, if you aren’t a smoker and you are standing next to someone who just lit a cigarette, you may be irritated, even offended to some degree, if the smoke comes your way. If you are brave you might comment on how smoking is bad for you and that it can cause cancer.

Can’t you see though, the greatest cancer of all is ignorance. Scientist have studied the anatomy of homo sapiens and have studied the cells in action and how magnificent and incredible it is that a microscopic life form contributes to human existence. Yet, how many people know the anatomy of a problem? How many people know the basics or mechanics of communication?

If man ever truly wants to solve the problems that he is confronted with everyday, he must look to the humanities. The philosophic world and the universe of understanding. The key and entrance point to all men is literacy.

Literacy is a common ground that can be met by all men. It is not left to interpretation but only duplication.

Please stop tolerating ignorance. You don’t have this right anymore because I definitely will not be reasonable and tolerate it. When you come at me with freedom of expression, do your best to express a truth. Don’t come at me with expressions of idiocy and stupidity. I will not tolerate it. When you come at me with freedom of speech, do not stand in my face and call me derogatory names or words. I will not tolerate it. Not to mention, if you do such a thing, I will chop you up intellectually, and that wouldn’t be nice of me, and I really wouldn’t want to subject you to such torture.

Ignorance is not acceptable and if we want a better world, the first thing we must abolish is it. Until we do, we will have a second rate planet that can be substituted for a garbage dump.

Educate yourself. I know that many of you are. And for those of you who aren’t this article isn’t written to make you hostile, it was written to convey the change you need to make if you really want to reach your goals.

    Serious.
I have a friends who had a triple bypass at 42. I went to a party her sister gave to she her, as I hadn’t seen her in a while. I walked outside for some air and there she was outside smoking a cigarette. I went off on her. Then I realized I can’t tolerate ingnorance.

  4. Alex,

What about the crimes being committed by the people who aren’t ignorant? What about the elite class of people with access to information none of us have and are using it to commit crimes on humanity? What about or President and the CIA? How do they fit into your assessment?

    In response to Troublman:

I here what you are saying about the crimes committed by those who aren’t ignorant. But realize that the greatest crime of all is omission, or shall I say, doing nothing you should do something about. If you look around, you will find that there does exist a higher knowledge that is available to you, me, and everyone else. I came to realize that the knowledge man is inefficient in is the humanities.

The Elite class of people you are referring to, they really don’t have any knowledge that is not available to me or you, but they do have a group dynamic in the sense that their interpersonal relations are associations with the bankers, the politicians, the decision makers of the world.

The President is one man with a great responsibility. Whether or not he uses his power for the benefit of many or for a few, determines his worth. You can make as good of an evaluation of the President and what he has done for the U.S. than I can. I personally do not know much about the CIA in the sense of who they are, but I have read enough about them to know what they do.

Your real assets are people. Create pro-survival goals that many can align to and support and continually communicate that with lots of expansion. You will than have the group you desire and the power to change things, but trying to understand organizations like the government is difficult since it is filled with complexities and anything which contains lots of complexities also contains many untruths.

Excellent article Alex. I definitely am a student of philosophy and the humanities. The problem is many people find such studies irrelevant or impractical, because anything that does not forward a huge sum of money to someone’s pockets is a waste of time. The problem is ignorance comes in the forms of intelligent people and unintelligent people. The people who are intelligent and commit ignorance are the worst to me. They SHOULD know, and if they don’t, then they have the access to the information to set them straight.

There's a war going on. It's for our minds. The enemy-- ignorance and apathy. Strap yourself. Only the smart survive.

Cause he a nigga but he just can't accept it.
