My Man’s and Dem…

–John Kerry

I’m sure most of you’ve heard about Kerry endorsing Obama. Quick question–will it work?

It’s a strong move for the Obama campaign because he needs to broaden his audience. Right now Barack has the idealists, young men and immerging dems and converts. Kerry’s endorsement could bring in an older crowd of more traditional Dems and give him a bit of clout from experience. If everyone wants to jack his campaign for change, he needs to round himself out too. Hillary right now has the older crowd, women over 45, and fans of Slick Willy’s administration. Right now I am assuming that Edwards and his perfect hair are not in the running to be top dog, even if he is carrying the unions and south. Also, Edwards was literally Kerry’s right hand man for ‘04. That’s gotta leave a bitter taste in your mouth. If he can keep away from any major blunders, I think Barack just might pull off a miracle, so long as Hillary doesn’t pull another waterworks stunt. Oh, and another thing, that crying b.s. was calculated. Call me cold, call me a hater, I don’t give a damn. She knew what she was doing, stayed on point and I gotta give it up for the effort for spinning the gender issue on its head by exposing it so blatantly. But spin is spin damn it, and that’s some manipulative political business right there.

well, i don’t think it can hurt.. i mean, he did lose a race a lot of us thought was his for the taking against Bush, but the more people he can bring to Barack’s table, the better.. i figure that Barack can take it from there..

Terry, i’m with you on the whole waterworks thing.. i’m still bothered by that.. she goes from being a robot to the crying game?? this all looks like a documentary waiting to happen.. where’s Mikey Moore when you need him?

With Obama’s ability to “create” new Democrats and change the playing field by bringing in more voters than ever before, other Democrats will want to ride those coattails and I would look for further high level endorsements to Obama in the upcoming weeks.

The democratic nomination is a two pony race, however hillary (imo) doesn’t stand a chance of being elected, if she were to become the dem. nominee mayor bloomberg would jump in the race as an independent, steal her votes and basically assure another republican enters the white house next year. this is not an indictment of her abilities but she is far too polarizing.

Nice to see Kerry returning the favor to Edwards by endorsing someone else…but then again nothing surprises me with these gold diggers!

Endorsements mean nothing. Anyone who votes for someone based upon endorsements is absolutely stupid. Make up your own mind based upon the criteria — don’t let someone else decide for you.

And speaking of coattails Chicitystar —— Edwards is losing because he’s running on last year’s message. Then he’s attempting to ride Obama’s message, but everyone sees what he’s really doing. His lines failed in 2004, and they’re failing in 2008.

Obama is impressive. He is what we need to make the changes in the 21st century. Actually, I wish Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama will be on the same ticket when the primaries are over. Both of them are very, impressive indeed. So, Democratics we are fortunate to have such outstanding candidates.

So, be grateful and support the party. The next President will have a lot of work to do. He or she will need all the help they can get after the mess of the Bush administration.

May only give a slight benefit. A lot of people think it is a digression.. .

I agree with Jaye, voters tend to factor endorsements into their decision-making process but rarely use an endorsement to make up their minds. This nomination fight will ultimately be won not by the candidate with more endorsements but by the candidate who can best convince the American people that he or she shares their vision for the future of the country.

After Kerry bungled away his presidential nod and let Rove, Bush, and the Swift Boaters punk him..He has zero clout with Dems. He had to be one of the weakest dem candidates since Dukakis…

Kerry can tell me where to get the best Coca Cola on the East Coast and I still wouldn’t believe him nor give him any credit lol

i just think it’s a beautiful thing to see about 5 posts this week on TROUBL about this race, and to see so many comments.. This has to be the biggest site with comments that are not about gossip or Hollywood.. props due for that..

I still look at this being a situation where it stretches Obama’s audience a bit.. it’s like giving Steven Jackson the opportunity to go against a bad rush defense.. put him on that field and #39 will take it from there.. when you meet Barack, he makes you believe.. i still remember when i saw him here in NYC prior to him getting in the race.. He was doing a book signing.. I got up there, and we greeted each other, and dude immediately started speaking in slang with me.. so much so that i was scared.. we talked about the church in Chicago and this dude could care less that he was “being real” in front of “guests”.. i walked away with a newfound respect for the dude.. cuz i wanted to “shush” him so that he wouldn’t get backlash from being “Black” as Black can be..

i think that sincerity grows on people.. i really feel that he’s a dude that only needs a seat at the table, and he can take it from there..

  13. I think Kerry’s endorsement can hurt Obama. Obama’s strength as a candidae comes from he appearing to be seperate from traditional Dems. Kerry is as traditional as they come. Maybe it’s just me but it look like he’s trying to hard. I mean people know Kerry, but most see him as a loser. Yes he has an extensive mailing list, but will anyone vote for Obama becuase he spams them. I do’nt think its a good move at all.

  14. Sincerely sincere all, it is I, Duke Boosy here reminding all you guys about my lovely party , the republican party. I have no idea what’s in store for us but am really wondering if my boy Bloomberg is going to show how us new yorkers do and buy his nomination and take the Democrats….

    - As for my boy Obama being real, Q. Real recognize real , so props to you for bringing out the real in him…Good luck to all the candidates, I miss Ron Paul……

But do you think THIS is the move that’s going to get him to the table?

This is exactly why John Kerry was not elected as President! He ain’t fooled nobody! Endorsing Obama is how he wants to get back at the American people for not electing him President! Obama does not need a “liberal has been” telling us who to vote for! This is the last thing that Barack Obama needs. This will be the kiss of death for him.

Ron, what i’m saying is that Kerry would bring people to his table.. We really don’t know if he has pull.. My thoughts are that i truly believe that Barack has enough “up there” that if he gets in front of people they will gravitate towards him.. I really don’t think there are many people who can tarnish Barack’s image.. I mean, dude put his life out there for everybody, and he’s gotten this far with people knowing everything about him.. He also has someone by his side (wife) that’s really to go at anybody who says something sideways about him (note her quick response about people wondering if he would be afraid to get shot)..

I think the endorsment helps Obama for the simple fact, that majority of Kerry’s ex-voters will probably be guided in Obama’s direction, which means more numbers in supporters and less effort due to the endorsement by Kerry. I think it was a good move but not a very significant one, hopefully Obama will have a better opportunity to capitalize from. Lets see what happens because this was definately a surprise.

  21. Don’t forget many of the people who voted for Kerry last election didn’t vote for him because they thought he was the best candidate. Many people voted for him simply because he wasn’t Bush.

I don’t think Obama can win by relying strictly on the not Hillary vote.

Games will be played. There are some things that are going to happen and have already happened to brake the spirits of the Obama voters. Pay attention to the enemy they will try their best to turn the tide. Changes in our country will occur with the work of real people, but you and I know that a small majority of people can’t except change. Kerry may have underlined reasons since he is a relative of the Bush family.

While, I am still undecided if the endorsement was a good chess move or not on Kerry’s part or Obama’s part, we must realize that Obama is entering into some Southern states, so color is a variable. With the 2004 election Kerry statistics show that he had a high voter rate with women, young voters, latinos, asians and blacks. Where the white vote is concerned, although Kerry is a Dem, he still has his foot in the door with the good ole boys…..
