Grind

Written by: Alwayswrite

Grind GrindTwo…Three…Four occupations even, is the dollar climate. Please do not be mistaken: One hustle is not enough. From sun up to sundown, you should have no idle time. How can you? You won’t be able to pay for anything.

In an economic circumstance, one that is affecting the globe at large, where even the richest of the richest is noticing the duckets in their purses falling into a receding abyss; the everyday person, you, must replenish what you are constantly losing because, ultimately, no one but you is going to bail you out.

It’s hard when you work so hard, and it seems to be an unequal equation. Why am I not getting what I put in? The market is down. But, that doesn’t mean you have to be. Times are hard–this you know–but you have to be harder–Grind. Return will come. Patience is a virtue for those who are rigid, built for depressed minutes and hours. A large pot of golden pieces does await at the finish of the rainbow–no matter how vague and disconcerting the colors might be at the moment. Remember, steps, no matter how tiny, amount to leaps when the math is complete. And no equation is solved just by looking at it. You have to take out a pencil and work. That is the answer. Get a hustle. If it’s not enough, get another. If that’s not enough, get another…and so on, until you have what you need and want. Grind, my friends, Grind.

  1. Preach! I heard that don’t play. I’ve got three hustles. 2 for other people one for myself. I was starting to feel a little stressed but after reading this entry I find comfort in knowing I’m not the only one.

  2. Something that I saw yesterday highlighted what grind means to me. I was waiting for my shrimp fried rice at the Chinese food spot spot when a Mexican family walked by. It was late but dad, mom, young daughter and young son marched down the block hauling what looked to be furniture. An arab man , who was waiting for his chicken chow mein, turned to me and said, “they know how to do it.”

What he referred to was their grind, their hunger to not only make due but to eventually strive here in America. The whole incident was so funny to me because here I am in a chinese food spot and the whole family is in the kitchen cooking. A Mexican family walks by and they’re all grinding. And next to me is an Arab man, who understands it all.

When I see families hustling together and people of all races and cultures all trying to get it , It makes me know my grind is not for granted, It make me know that I belong to the grind. It reminds me who I am and what I came from. I love grind. I am grind.

  3. Notice that all the cultures that you mentioned Mexican and Arabian are the folks you seeing unashamed of picking up any grind. We have a generations of kids in America that think that some work is beneath them.

  4. There are so many things we all can do. Today a man will come to clean my carpets. No not a professional company like Stanley Carpet Cleaners, just and ordinary person with a grind trying to make extra money. We all have talents that we can use. Now is the time to tap into things that we can do to make it, or just keep what we have together. Gardening, sewing, cleaning, etc.

  7. It’s crazy cause “A Mom” is sooooo right that young kids think work is beneath them!!! I’m 22 and I’m already tried of grinding. I’ve been working 2 jobs since I was in high school and now that I am in college I feel burnt out. Like I just want to stop. And I remember asking myself the other day, “Why am I doing all this?” The sad part is that I couldn’t answer the question. I’m grinding with no direction. I want more out of life than just material things and money.

Damn…that’s all I can say really. That touched me. I don’t really have advice for that. Keep GRINDING. Eventually, you’ll move in the right direction. 22…you still young. Don’t even trip.

    Hope that helps…

There's a war going on. It's for our minds. The enemy-- ignorance and apathy. Strap yourself. Only the smart survive.

Cause he a nigga but he just can't accept it.
