Fuck the Troops

To many, I have just committed an unforgivable sin against God and Country. Apparently, this notion is a betrayal of everything good and honorable about the so-called “Greatest Nation on Earth.”

Patriotism? Are you serious?

“Support our troops” has become the unshakable mantra that ultimately pacified the American people into accepting this atrocity of a war when all other lies failed. Remember WMDs? How about the Hussein-Bin Laden 9/11 connection? Or what about liberating the Iraqi people from tyranny to bring about a stable democracy and effectively destroying the safe haven of “terrorists”?

All of this was shoved into the American consciousness by government policy led by the fourth branch, the media. Later we discovered this mountain of evidence to be 100% good old-fashioned American bullshit.

I fondly remember country songs about patriotism, never forgetting, and freedom fries while people waved their little flags made in China.

After the truth finally came out, a new excuse was needed to keep the “Everyone is a Hero” t-shirt enterprise afloat. The “Support our Troops” fundraising campaign was pushed to the forefront; after all, no matter how you feel about the war almost every person knows someone involved whom they love and wish to support. It’s the ultimate twisted grassroots agenda to keep the holy war rolling.

Who in their right mind would speak against the brave men and women who fight to protect our country, keeping us safe from…whoever? If you are referring the children, primarily of the lower class, who are trained to kill other poor people in lands that most Americans can’t pronounce, let alone locate on a map, and die for a cause drilled into them through severe conditioning in exchange for money or a college education, then we should all have something to say about this.

The formula of church hand in hand with the state is most dangerous when the communities choose to declare a spiritual war on heathens over 7,000 miles away. They scream love, compassion and Jesus as they back up their prayers with the real life hell fire of bullets and bombs. In the process of teaching the world about morality, over 100,000 Iraqis were killed, millions were displaced from their homes, and countless others will live the rest of their lives permanently disabled.

Ironically, this just created a haven for terrorism with a new generation of pissed off people who have a fresh pool of now justified hatred boiling to the surface. Not only all of that, but we are responsible for the murder of 4,000 of our own and tens of thousands who are now permanently maimed or psychologically scarred. Our compassionate government not only sent them over without proper equipment or a coherent plan once they took control of the city, they refuse to provide these honored veterans with the medical care they need when they reach home.

But, please remember to support our troops by keeping this war going, after all its great for our failing economy.

It’s hard for me to imagine what happens after this is all over. But it shows me how brainwashed we americans are. There are people out there that have been right in all of this that want to tell the real story but in our country of free speech we don’t seem to hear from these people and the few that speak up are labeled traders. Long after this war, the war begins right here when our troops return to broken families, drug addiction, wounds that never heal and help that does not exist. This is America the home of the brave. Will our government really give a dam when it is all over? Remember hearing about the vietnam vets when they came home.

    Damn Terry you said it…

I feel torn because on the one hand I do want to support the troops who put their lives on the line but I know they use the troops as propaganda to guilt the American public (or non-believers aka non-patriotic americans) into supporting the war on some level…

and yes its really a shame how we neglect the troops once they get home…we treat them like whores but worse…we fuck them up, then give them some money and send them on their way…

but what can you do? you know someones brother/boyfriend/dad/sister/mother is out there…it would be fucked up not to care….

I care a lot too, because that could be my Son or Daughter, but I have heard some horror stories about the troops after they return. Also while they are gone how their families struggle to live on the incomes they receive and how the government does not give them the support they need while he/she is away fighting for our country.

I support the troops as my boys are over there doing the damnt hing. But i’ve been one for saying ” ya’ll better come back with that oil and make that shit worth it”

however with halliburton moving their base to dubai and excluding themselves from prosecuting when bush leaves office. it’s not secret them boys ain’t coming home anytime soon.. Some people say 50 more years, thats a whole generation born into a world with internet tv and a war. you best believes the kids of tommorow are going to be more fucked up than we are….

How can war ever be worth it? Really though, how can oil to fuel our cars and to line the pockets of the people that poison, misinform and imprison you be justified by death and destruction? And why give up on the kids? Isn’t in our power to change the future that lies in front of them?

I myself have no problem with you saying fuck the troops. In a real sense they are the pawns that carry out the evils that rule our nation. America’s strength has long been its military, and when I say that I’m talking about the everyday men and women that make up the armed forces. Still, whose agenda are we fighting for in Iraq? America’s or a few wealthy Americans?

It’s a hard line to take because we need a military, but at what point do our soldiers fight against the powers that are sacrificing them for their own selfish gains. Whose to blame? All of us probably…

On point. There is a connection on some level with everyday people to the war. But, those same people are caught between a rock and a hard place. They in fact due fight for something, though vague; but they’re fighting has thwarted a revisit of 9/11–at least that’s the propaganda. It’s just really sad that the plausibility of them dying for absolutely nothing even exist. I definitely support the troops, but I’m bothered by the fact that they give themselves for an ambiguous cause.

These people all volunteeered and knew what they were getting into. I think I speak for the majority of today’s America when I say they deserve to be screwed and deserve far worse!

So, THUD, what are you saying about their relationship to the war. Do you know why we are there? I clearly remember recruiters in my high school offering a college education to protect the country. Are troops who are old enough to vote and to kill, but not to drink legally really adults? Infantry means child solider, is it fair to say that they knew what they were fighting for? Do you think that we should support them? Do you agree with the war?

I am not just posing that to you, I want to know from the Troubl Community, why do you think that we are at war?

Terry you’re exactly right i remember the recruiters talking about how they can pay fo ryour education and if you’re growing up in a house with a low income or you yourself dont have the money it was a great way to your life started. now we hear people say fuck the troops and honestly we are trying to make Iraq a better country but everyone ought to know that you can’t make it happen at the drop of a dime. I think everyone should support the troops because they leave home for 15 months not knowing if they are comin home to a wife, girlfriend, kids or if they might come home in a box with the American flag draped over. The family’s know the sacrifice and accept the choices their loved ones are willing to make. That’s all i have to say, oh yeah before i forget I AM A SOLDIER!

There's a war going on. It's for our minds. The enemy-- ignorance and apathy. Strap yourself. Only the smart survive.
