Dreams

Written by: Alwayswrite

troubl-dreams.jpgI think most, if not a huge majority, of people possess extravagant notions about their life. The question becomes: What does one do about them? Two options exist: a) Exert effort in trying to realize them b) Continuously hold those notions in thought. Those are the only two options, and that is it.

People become uneasy when their dreams are not easily realized. At first, effort is given, sweat and tears shed—then nothing. One with mental fortitude continues. One without it stops. And option a) quickly turns into option b). The only thing left is complaining and false dreams.

An intelligent one notices the special property of dreams and further notices dreams are not a gift. Work must be put in. It’s as simple as that. Seldom do dreams just float into one’s lap. For certain, a lazy one will never get anything–especially their extravagant notions. So, one should not vend things that he or she can’t buy, or are not willing to get the money for. It’s ridiculous and a waste of time. In the end, one must realize this: To dream is an excellent thing, but when dreams are not seen; they soon become nightmares.

  1. I’m with you bro. I’m definitely caught between these two places myself– I am grindin every day, but I wonder if I’ll ever get “there” and achieve my goals, which I’ll admit, are high. When I work hard and things don’t come instantly, frustration is definitely present, but I get through it by knowing that life is a battle comprised of many smaller, daily battles. We need to collectively keep that front and central in the way we live, and get away from this overnight rags-to-riches fantasy that the media deludes us with. Even people who talent seems to come to naturally have had to work extremely hard– think about superstars like LeBron James or Tiger Woods– they’re on the court or the course and in the weightroom practically every day, trying to get even better. Most of us don’t even realize it and take their skill for granted.

If we apply the mentality to our own challenges in life that even the best of the best have to work hard, it puts things in perspective and makes the work we do put in a LOT easier on a daily basis.

Im learning about this very notion right now on both a personal and professional level. Its been really hard for me because I am not a patient person- I want to see results and when I dont- i get upset and discouraged but i know that giving up wont make the dream manifest.

Reaching your dreams is a full-time job!

  3. Mental fortitude should be something they measure on the SAT. It’s an intelligence most people don’t even realize exists. It’s what Michael Jordan taps into in the fourth quarter. It’s what single moms that raise successful children taps into. It’s the strength the fueled MLK.

What nightmare? There’s no nightmare. That shit is called reality. It’s just that people without mental fortitude make the reality bleak. I don’t really have too many dreams at night, but during the day my mind be everywhere. What’s the difference?

I learn alot from all of you and I have to say Q has taught me some things that make it all come together in my mind. He told me…”I don’t know what I’m not supposed to do” and I LOVE THAT!!!! To have a mentality that in no way am I going to limit my own gifts and potential—-NO WAY!!!! Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do! Just keep pushing forward……

    Love this post.
I have always been a dreamer. People tell me they don’t have dreams. I can’t imagine my life without them. Dreams make my world larger than life. I solve problems, make decisions, move forward and give my all. I have so many talents and that is why losing my job has not been a sad thing for me. I know that my dreams have made it possible for me to learn, learn, learn, and know I can market myself to do what ever I want to do.

    Troublman-
Dreams are dreams day or night. It is a thought process.

    SB-
Your right reaching your dreams is a job but the results feel so good.
I know you will keep going because you know what it take. Some people never realize that.

    Johnny Haze-
The fact that you are out there grinding tells me you are so close. I’m so blessed to feel all of troubl’s energy.

There’s a difference. I control my dreams during the day.I navigate where I go. I choose what happens. At night, I’m watching a movie.

    wait, huh??

i’m not agreeing at all with this.. i might just need more clarity.. a dream that is not realized is not necessarily a nightmare.. it could just mean that you may have more work ahead of you to make that dream turn into a reality.. i see a lot of people with dreams run as soon as they can’t fathom how much more work and effort they will have to put in.. sometimes dreams are deferred.. doesn’t mean that they are nightmares.. doesn’t mean we should just stop..

unless you’re talking about dreams that you know just can’t happen.. like sprouting wings and flying.. but, i for one am all about chasing your dreams intelligently.. you can’t dream about being a business man and then sit on your behind all day smoking weed.. that’s not a dream, fam, that’s the weed messing w/ ur head.. hallucinations..

good looking Malia.. appreciate the kind words.. i’m still chasing my dreams.. even when they go sideways, i’m trying to find a way to move them forward..

There was a point in my life that I dreamt so much that I couldn’t even focus on life in the present. I’ve been on many journeys to many places and many times I have to say they’ve been great experiences. Through these experiences i’ve learned that you have to work hard, VERY hard to actualize these alternate existences, but its definitly possible you just have to keep your dream alive.

I agree with you. Like I said in my first comment, its not a nightmare it’s reality. It’s just that people make they’re reality bleak. Do more than chase your dream intelligently, live intelligently. At that point your dreams we’ll become your life and your life your dreams.

    Key phrase: Mental fortitude

by “nightmare,” i mean a person will constantly think about what he or she did not do to make their dreams come true. that can be a nightmare. a constant reminder that places your fate in a state of limbo–woulda, coulda, shoulda…
