Cold as Fire

Written by: SB

burnin-up.jpgWhy is lil’ homie playing on the playground with no more than a shirt on? Why does home girl got on some open toed shoes in February? Why have I been sportin’ my cute light coat and stunner shades? BECAUSE IT’S A WARM WINTER!!!! We are in the middle of what is supposed to be winter but instead it feels like we are in autumn. Sure, we all enjoy these not-so-cold days of winter…but that’s the thing, its F*&*#ing winter!!! People should not be walking around outside with anything less than their gear for Antarctica. The verdict is out and the tree huggers were right…we are in a global warming!

No one can deny that we are in the middle of one of the warmest winters ever. WHY? Well…we can blame it on the government for not giving a damn unless it was convenient (i.e. US not signing the Kyoto protocol because they didn’t want to accept the responsibility if China didn’t have to) OR…we can blame it on the corporations who could give a damn about how much pollutants are released into the air and the ocean…or maybe we can blame it on you and me because our lifestyles aren’t the most environmentally friendly.

BUT…its way past the point of who should be blamed…and I have to ask…What happened to us as people/humans?….at one point in history we loved and cherished our earth…we adored the food and shelter that it provided us…so much so, that we turned to a higher power and thanked him/her for the blessings…

So what happened to loving Mother Earth? …have we diverted our love to technology and transportation…or do we truly believe that the earth is this super natural entity and we are not its keepers…hmmm let’s marinate on that for a minute…

What will we do when our winters turn into summers, or worse, we don’t have seasons anymore…
Not to lead you down a crazy episode of the twilight zone…but with the earth warming, resources will become scarce and expensive…so yes, that $5 bottle of water will seem like the standard in a few years.

Thinking green may be a cute fad for corporate advertisers to sell their new product but it’s a reality that we should accept…no I’m not suggesting you trade in your Cadillac Escalade for a Toyota Yaris but maybe you can cut down on driving it around the corner to the liquor store…ya feel?

Think about it….

  2. I never know whether to be happy or sad when its warm outside. I love the fact that its not snowing. I love when it don’t rain. But I’m conflicted because I’m tree hugger. Damn.

Mother Nature is always going to get back at us for the things that we do to f**k up the natural process of things. But best believe that mother earth will eventually do something to regulate herself, kind of like a girl on her period… You can’t keep feeding her bullshit, and not expect her to push it out. We are in for a surprise…The temperature is rising and i think it might be too late to cool it down…

It sad to admit but you’re correct. I just hope I’m somewhere else when the floods occur. I’m not trying to be in NYC when some tsunami shit goes down. Imagine that…

  5. Mother Nature may eventually regulate like you said, but until she does the cancer rates from sun damage will rise for those who dare to catch some rays. Crops are going to be damaged as well as starving, thirsty animals. Mother don’t play. We are alreay see some of the results of the damage. It’s like your garden. If you don’t care for it properly it won’t take care of you in the future. A lot of the damage can’t be taken back.

LOL!!!!! Fantastic piece SB!!!! Unpredictable weather ‘means seasonal fashion is now obsolete’ !!! Fashion-conscious consumers should get used to buying fur coats in the summer and sandals in the winter. Quiet as its kept, since I’m out here…..I LOVE it kinda warmer than usual. They tell me that I’m experiencing a mild winter (I can’t tell!!!!)…and I actually did get a pedicure and was rockin my Snoopy flip flops with my Baby Phat sweatsuit last weekend cuz it was 78 degrees. CRAZY!!!!!

But on the real - These are the end times people. Please don’t be naive…………….

and Boosy please don’t think that the mink or the rabbit fur is going to matter much sooner (you are hilarious)………We need to get our houses in order!!!!

As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. –Joshua 24:15

    I didn’t write it - GOD DID!!!!!

  7. Right on! this is very good article. I live in Northern Cali, and as many of u know, weather out here is pretty much nice, but just in the recent years, our climate has changed drastically, is cold when is suppose to be warm and viceversa. Don’t get me wrong, i love warm weather. But, Mother nature doesn’t play. We have seeing some of damages around the world. We need to get more concious/educated about Global Warming. Peace!!

  8. Malia,
I also so agree with you. The end is here. We just going in slow motion and haven’t caught up with it all yet. Talking about Dejavu. Were in it.

    I agree but….

This was going to happen anyway. We just sped up the process. The one thing I found out in my short time on this earth is…people are what’s wrong with this world. Can we slow down the inevitable? Maybe. Should we try? Yes. Next time someone litters will you go pick it up and throw it in the garbage? Will you ride your bike or walk to work? Maybe I am looking at the class half empty, but we only care about today, tomorrow.

    Be easy people…Stay in TROUBL!

The picture is very symbolic, yo! Sad to say, that world is a bomb with a slow burning wick. Something like that of the old intro scenes to Mission Impossible. Poluting the air and using up all of the earths natural resources is killing off everything. Think back on all the earthquakes, the tsunami, the floods of New Orleans, the tornadoes that touched down in the southern states recently. These are not just coincidental. Everytime we feel we have found a solution for one thing, we as humans are creating a problem for others. We are taking the place of Natural Selection and acting apon a mass murder of the earth. We know this!!! Why is there no one stopping this?

There's a war going on outside no man is safe from. It's for our minds. The enemy--ignorance, apathy, and the people who profit from both. Strap yourself. Only the smart survive.
