America in the Mirror

Written by: Cypher

book-of-mormon.jpgThere are some things that pundits either are barely becoming aware of or will not tell you because they don’t feel like it is important enough. One of those things is this: America will probably never elect a Mormon. Why? Although, Mormons are Americans; they are not in the majority. The majority goes to the collection of other related Catholics; Protestants; Episcopals; Baptists and other Evangelicals.

America won’t give the title of most powerful man or woman to a religion it looks down on because it doesn’t trust the Mormon sect. Sorry Mitt, that means no Presidency for you. The religious undertone that saturates our politics is insatiable; they thirst for power and fight to retain it. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to any
of us. Religion can be a beautiful thing. It gives us a moral base with which to live our lives but it also has a dark side. It also makes some of us fanatical. This fanaticism isn’t relegated to one religion, but it does have a prime example: suicide bombers-Muslims, priest raping little boys-Catholics, preachers driving their brand new
Cadi-Baptists, Episcopal etc?

Maybe it’s the multiple wives thing that keeps the other kids at the party from not wanting to dance with you. Who knows? Don’t feel bad Mormons, if it makes you feel better there will never be a Muslim president either.

I think people focus too much on the religion of the President. I notice that a lot of Christian people like the Repubican vote because they focus on the issues that affect the church directly like abortion and things like that, and relate the issues and the bullshit that Bush has got us in to scriptures in the bible. Me personally, I don’t think the Religion of the President should be the focus, I think it should be the moral of the man/woman running our country. I think we should focus on what he can do for our country, not what he or she does on their sabath day. Not that I was runnin with Mitt, but I’m just saying…..

I agree with you troublsome it should be about what he or she can do for the country. The sad truth is people do judge on things like this.

  5. We live in a world filled with labels and until we realize that labeling does nothing more than pull us further apart, we will continue missing out on so many of lifes adventures.
