What U Know

Written by: Baldwyn

tip What U Know Most folks know T.I. as the multi-platinum rapper, actor, Grammy award winner and self-proclaimed King of the South. To others he’s T.I.P., the grand hustler, rubber band man, urban legend…and convicted felon. Since getting hemmed on multiple guns charges, Clifford Harris Jr. negotiated a plea bargain, which requires community service, talking to kids about the dangers of making the same mistakes he’s made. Watch Clifford chop it up with Touré on the BET News special, “T.I. Speaks” airing tonight at 7:30. My question: Is he the right messenger and should BET have provided him with this platform?

I may be scrutinized for saying this but: “Why isn’t he the right person to be provided with this platform?” As we know to every action, there is a reaction! I personally think that T.I is in the position where he has to have heavy artillery or at least someone with a firearm in his camp. He is in the limelight, and it comes with the territory.

I am not saying that everyone should get an army and clip up to the fullest extent, but he is not an average dude and unfortunately, there are people out for his head. I think he is the perfect person for the community service acts, because he can tell you things and has first hand experience with it. To me that is better than someone who could read a book and articulate themselves well, and talk to you about an issue that they have not had first hand experience in, and can only comprehend through a book or the television…

If this is done only because the judge said he had to do it. Then I say it is not real. He is in the position to do some good, but I hope what he is telling young children that they should do to be better I hope he applies it to hisself in the future.

There's a war going on outside no man is safe from. It's for our minds. The enemy--ignorance, apathy, and the people who profit from both. Strap yourself. Only the smart survive.
