“I Love Black Folks”
“Damn, where’s a black baby to hold when I need one?”
–Insert politicians name here…
If you caught the Congressional Black Caucus’s Democratic debate, you witnessed why I love politics. It’s a blood sport. I just knew somebody was about to get slapped. Of course I could go into their criticism of each others voting records and how they worked to differentiate their policies, but I won’t. Instead I wanna know, did you peep…
• Obama’s tiredness. Feels like the Clinton’s are in his head.
• Hillary is reenergized (or maybe she just got her Botox game poppin?)
• Edwards is perfectly fine coming in third just so long as he gets to instigate along the way.
• Black folks cheering for Obama, just because (I guess we decided it’s how we gone celebrate MLK this year?).
• Barack using the word “brotha” and acting like he can dance
• Edwards finally adopting the “white candidate” tag.
• Hillary looking like she had a little junk in the trunk (forgive the mysogyny, but I’m sayin though…)
• The moderators relishing in the drama
• Dave Chapelle in the audience looking smoked out?!?!?
• The Republicans at home licking their chops.
I know some of you saw what I saw. But let me know what I missed?

What I saw was nominees who just last week made a peace pac, came out verbally punching on the eve of the same holiday they honored the week before, b/c the are in desperate need of our vote! Are they listening, or better yet, are we listening? Do we want a first ever president or the best leader of the free world? Can the first ever be our president without all of us? So we must do our part and listen to them and require them to do the same.

Desperate is the word. I’m young, but this the first time I seen presidential candidates sucking up to black people like this. I’m still trippin off Obama saying “brotha.” He made sure we heard the “a” rather than the “er.”

Yea, i can’t figure out if i want Barack to tone it down, or just come out and be “him” all day every day.. it’s a catch-22.. when he drops it in, then it seems like he’s trying too hard.. if he keeps it out, then he’s not being true.. i’m not saying people are feeling this way, but that’s my take on what he has to toy with every day.. it’s hard to live and grow in the Chi and not pick up a strong appreciation for our culture..
