“Women if the soul of the nation is to be saved, I believe that you must become its soul.”
–Coretta Scott King
It’s only right that a King marry the epitome a strong, educated, loving, supportive woman, mother and friend. A woman who understood that loving herself fully made it easier to love others and to not fear the unknown—one of the main ingredients in raising a nation.
He may have cheated. He may have been away 25 out of 30 days a month. But Coretta lived faithfully because she believed in a bigger picture. She raised four brilliant children in the violent civil rights south and stood alongside Martin in numerous marches.
Until her death, she continued to fight for humanity. She continued to dream for her and Martin, holding dearly in her heart an understanding that in the moments of change strength is required; love is never-ending; fear nonexistent; faith a virtue, courage the key and sacrifice…an honor.

Like they say. Behind every Great Man is a Great Women. This is what a Queen is all about.
Despite what people tried to do to them during the civil rights movement. They kept fighting. When MLK was assinated Coretta kept on fighting as he would have expected her to do. I think that if he would have lived he would of become the first Black President and she would be his first lady.
My job still doesn’t celebrate MLK holiday. But I’m taking it off anyway.
