We on a Mission

Written by: TROUBLMan

troubl-new-year.jpgWhat up world! Let me start off by saying thanks to those who’ve followed the blog up to this point. It’s been a minute since we’ve last posted. During the holidays we’ve been working behind the scenes, planning our attack for the new year. The conversation will officially resume on Jan. 7th. In the meantime, I’m sliding thru to fill everyone in on things to look forward to in ’08.

Let it be said, we’re on a mission. This year is about making TROUBL one of the most important sites for the young, hip and conscious. In a sense, it’s a return to our past, bringing the conversation of society and politics back to the hip-hop generation. This year is about growth—all of us becoming smarter together. It’s about reading more and teaching more.

We’re going to do a better job at letting you know who we are as individuals and as an organization. We’re going to do a better job of addressing the issues the mainstream media don’t know and don’t care to talk about.

In ’08, we’re investing in a new wardrobe. We live and die by our design so staying fresh to def is not an option. Expect more hot photography and graphics. Expect a polished layout. And expect more goodies that we’ll enhance the user experience of the site. We want TROUBL to feel like we’re rapping among friends.

We’re working to attract more young, opinionated TROUBLmakers to share their perspectives on the real issues that matter to us.

We’re also going to bring more celebrities and prominent figures to the table. They influence so many in our generation and it’s vital that we rap with them on the issues. And of course we’ll continue to deliver fresh features segments.

We need you to be loud!!! Let us know what you like. Let us know when we’re wrong. Any way we can improve the conversation, let us know.

It’s time to affect culture. See you on Monday. Peace.

i’ll keep doing this, but i applaud TROUBLMedia and TROUBLMan for this site.. I know this year will be great, and i’m looking forward to seeing TROUBL evolve into the place where words spur on action from not one, but many..

2008, the year to go take it.. No more talk about “Gettin’ It”.. Just go take it..

Yes I believe it’s our time to shine and redeem what has been stripped of so many of us!!!! We have to stay progressive and be willing to NEVER give up!!!!

Man-o-man….last year was horrendous (the worst year of my life!!!!) Some people feel where I’m coming from - some of us have simply stopped expecting. We’ve accumulated so many of life’s disappointments that we’ve been afraid to dream, reach, stretch, or broaden our horizons. But it’s time to take hold of tomorrow, and stop living in yesterday………..AND DON’T LET ANYONE OR ANYTHING RESTRICT YOUR TOMORROWS!!!!!!

IT’S TIME FOR A NEW BEGINNING!!!!

And like Q said…..asking is not an option!

    TAKE IT!!!!!

The first step in taking IT is to understand what IT is, how IT affects you, and what causes IT to gravitate your way. IT means something different to everybody, what does IT mean to you?

    I WANT IT ALL!!!!!

…..abundance and blessings, prosperity in EVERY area of my life!!!! And I am rooted, established, strong, immovable and determined to TAKE IT ALL!!!!!!!…….

Beautiful Mind, I hope whatever IT is that you seek, you get, but remember you can’t take ANYTHING in a defensive posture. It’s time to mount up!!!!

Those are good things to take Miss Carter. It sounds like you aren’t taking “NO” for an answer.

My IT would be change. Not necessarily to paint the White House Black like Public Enemy would have, but it’s been a long time coming and the winds of change are upon us. 69% of the voters in last nights caucus voted for Obama and the majority of the votes were from the young and progressive. Only the stiffnecks voted conservative or for Clinton. She’s ready to play hardball in NH on Tuesday focusing on his weaknesses, but I have faith in my boy!

Malia, i’m with you.. Take everything.. But, you’re right about last year being crazy for a lot of us.. shoot, i started off great and then over the past few months i had people come at me from every angle.. i Matrixed it for a bit, then finally got caught last month.. the thing about this year over other years is that EVERYBODY is struggling.. Blacks, whites, everybody.. and people are all feeling that (as shown in the Iowa Caucus, like my fellow Chicagoan said)..

Personally, i’m taking this marketing thing to another level.. that’s my IT.. if it has to do with marketing, i want people mentioning my name.. period..

Q —– Well Alright!!!!! yeah, I would’ve tried the Matrix move if I was prepared for all the trifling mess that went on last year, but most of it came out of thin air and I didn’t see it coming - I mean it was so bad that I had to move from Cali to this back-a$$ward town and re-up from the beginning like I just got out of college ((so another one of my IT’s is to STAY READY so I won’t have to get ready, ya heard?!?!?!))….

Anyway I found a job in the paper that pays what I was making in Cali so I AM GOING TO TAKE IT!!!!! LOL…LOL…LOL….WISH ME LUCK!!!!

And Mr. Marketing Extraordinaire, if I see something with your name on it I will definitely do all I can to plug it the same way I’m down for Trouble.

ChiCity Star ——– Hey don’t be sayin my last name all willy-nilly up in here like that boy!!!!!! I need to stay incognito a little bit before I get put on somebody’s “LIST”…lol!!!!!

I’m excited too to see how it’s all going to go down for Barack Obama this year. I mean you can’t blame the man for feeling all biblical right now, I mean with Oprah herself hallooing Bar-ack O-bam-a!….Bar-ack O-bam-a!….Bar-ack O-bam-a!…..If the skies suddenly crack open and God’s voice booms down “Vote for Barack” while a heavenly choir belts out “Oh Happy Day”, it would all seem like just the continuing sequence of events that are supposed to take place right now. We are making histroy people!!!!

TROUBLMan ——- Question…. tell me what you think about this contest between Obama and Clinton being as close to a “balck primary” as we’re going to get in 2008.

This seems like the time, almost certainly, when Democrats will be fighting all-out for African-Ameircan votes. Clinton’s support among African-Americans is largely thanks to her husband’s popularity but she can’t hold a candle to the fire that Bill was workin with as far as I’m concerned.

  13. Malia,

I recognize your powers. I’m writing about that exact topic as we speak. The post will be up shortly. I want to raise the question to everyone here at TROUBL.

    Malia, i appreciate that!!

  15. This is what it is! It’s not about color or is it? Do you really think that it is possible? If this man is as real as I think he is (Obama) Then everything that we have fought for, black, white yellow, brown real people! History has become a thing of the past.
I love to here you all talk. It makes me fill alive and makes me seek new beginnings and lets me get out there and show how I can make a difference.
Voting is just the beginning. I want to be a mentor.
