Gassed

gassed.jpgWhat President Bush calls a “major step” is nothing more than a tiptoe toward American energy independence. Let Bush tell it and the energy bill he signed today, which raises fuel efficiency standards to 35 miles per gallon by 2020 and calls for an increase in ethanol production to 36 billion gallons a year by 2022, will make us “stronger, cleaner and more secure.”

Dig deeper and you see that it’s really just political deception intended to create the appearance of progress. Our current fuel standards of 27.5 miles per gallons for passenger vehicles were established in 1975 and yet 45 years later we’ll have only raised standards by 7.5 miles. Shit, in 1975 people thought we’d be in flying cars by 2020.

Today, most people would laugh if you made that prediction. But it’s not that funny when realize the president’s plans to establish a permanent base on the moon by the same year. I guess space travel is easier to improve than our everyday means of transportation. Once again, politician’s priorities are off and we’re left paying higher gas prices and fighting the wars behind all of this oil corruption.

This so-called “progress” boils down to a few simple things—a reluctance by automakers to make more efficient vehicles because it would up there production costs, and oil company execs influencing our government so that they can squeeze more profits out of a dwindling oil supply. Something ain’t right. If you drive, you gotta feel me.

Good point -I can’t wait til his term is over. I read something about Obama saying the Big Three U.S. automakers are “hemorraging jobs and profits,” the foreign competition is addressing what he calls “the rising global demand for fuel-efficient cars.”

I am in the market for a car since weather conditions out here don’t permit the luxury public transpo. I hear car manufacturers have been urged to stop producing ‘gas-guzzlers’ and concentrate on lower spec more environmentally-friendly cars——any suggestions?

Yes girl———-I just bought Saturn Hybrid Sedan. LOL - it’s a hybrid for the working woman’s salary And with its great price it will enable more people to have access to fuel-saving and environmentally friendly hybrid cars.

Bush has contributed to so much damage in this country. He wants to do as much as he can before he gets out of office. He can than sit back with all his money and his wife and two daughters and live comfortably while someone else will have to take the brunt of his mess. He is on of the most hated men in the world, and has been a puppet for the older Bushes the hold time he has been in office. Unfortunately our country is suffering because someone wants to save face.

There's a war going on. It's for our minds. The enemy-- ignorance and apathy. Strap yourself. Only the smart survive.

i'll be watching.
