Eat It
Of course we have to talk about issues like black-on-black crime, but we also need to bring killers like heart disease and diabetes to the table. The corporate forces (the media and their advertisers) do a good job of keeping us fixated on the social forces so that we ignore their vandalism. The fast food industry is a good example. When’s the last time you’ve heard a story on the over saturation of McDonald’s in black communities. Walk down 125th street in Harlem and you’ll know what I mean.
For years, McDonald’s advertising has helped fuel America’s heart disease epidemic. And for years its served black people trash packaged in prejudice, which influences discrimination, helps create poverty and makes McDonald’s a neccessity in the hood. Just another crazy cycle with a little special sauce.

Wait ’til they start serving the McLuther - “A full pound burger with grilled onions, melted cheese, five strips of bacon and sandwiched in between two Krispy Kreme donuts.” Cats will be lined up around the block. It’s gonna make the “Itis” episode of The Boondocks look like a documentary.
Just goes to show they have every base covered.

no one mentioned how the mcdonalds commercials always shows black people dancing and “extra happy” to eat their food.
From the Mcdonalds on my block on 125th & broadway, to the one two blocks away, i dont see any happy people of color dancing, they seem to be very cold and smoking and or selling newports. circa 2:52pm 125th & bway. Dec. 16th 07.
.Wish i had a pic of it to show ya’ll. Mcdonalds could serve shit in front of us and we would go, supersize that bitch

its more about econmics and lack of knowledgae, regarding nutrition. Poor people. of any color will use the cash they have on hand to purchase, cheap, prepared food. While those with money, who r consciousof diet and weight will prepare hardy, healthy meals themselves or their chef will do so. People eat fast food because it cheap andeasy, no fuss! Its harder to eat healty and right, trust me

I don’t think it is hard. I think people are misinformed. When we were growing up most of our meals came from my grandmothers garden. She grew lots of vegetables and fruits etc. We didn’t eat a lot ot meats because we were poor. Sunday was a day for chicken, sometimes beef stew or lamb, most things were grown. I remember how fresh everything was. Eating out hardly ever. Also people don’t realize quick can be very expensive. I compared Macdonalds in New York and in California. Prices are higher in New York with everything. Cheap is not always cheap!
