Moment of Silence

Written by: TROUBLMan

Can we please have a moment of silence?/ That’s for my niggaz doin’ years in confinement/ And for my soldiers who passed over, no longer living/ That couldn’t run whenever the reaper came to get ‘em…

Can we please pour out some liquor?/ Symobolizin’, let’s take in time to consider that/ Though our thugs ain’t here, the love is here/ And we gon’ rep ’til slugs kill us here…

To put someone as honorable as a soldier with a criminal is repulsive. The soldier chose the honorable thing to do. The criminal/thug chose to do the wrong thing. The soldier serves for others. The thug chooses to be a criminal for purely stupid and selfish reasons. It is still amazing that I served this great country so someone would have the freedom to write such psychobabble.

Repulsive? I disagree. Soldiers and criminals are people. Plus, honorable is subjective. There are criminals in jail simply because they stole a material object. Yet, there are soldiers who kill people in war. Some people believe soldiers are criminals themselves. Some believe that fighting wars, and killing is a crime. Especially when it’s n illegal war like the one we’re involved in now.

Not all people in the system are criminals. You never know what one has to face in order to get by. I’m not saying that its right but this world is a cold place & all people in it don’t have the outlets to live a productive life. Some people when his or her back is up against the wall make foolish decisions/choices then for the rest of his or her life most albeit not all put labels on them.

I believe parts of this come from a rap song but most rap songs are about positive movements. Its always my n-word this b that ho come here & lick my lollipop.

There’s a war going on. It’s for our minds. The enemy profits from our ignorance and apathy. We fight back. Our philosophy: question what we’ve been taught, examine society and create a community that teaches and inspires collective action.
